FIIG Securities - Cyber Incident Update - Data Released On Dark Web

Latest FIIG communication from CEO Alex Welch:

“The threat actor known as Blackcat or AlphV has claimed that it has published FIIG data on the dark web. We understand that the publication process has commenced and is not complete. Our cyber security experts are in the process of reviewing the data as it is published to validate the claim.

The kind of personal information set out in our initial notifications in June 2023, remains the personal information that has been potentially compromised. Our investigations to date, have not identified any additional kinds of personal information impacted.

While our review of the incident is ongoing, investigations undertaken by our cyber security experts indicate that the data targeted by the threat actor was files created or modified within the last 1,500 days, which is 4.1 years or from April 2019 to June 2023. While this may reduce the risk of personal information being accessed for individuals who were onboarded or engaged with FIIG prior to this timeframe, we cannot definitively confirm that records dating further back have not been compromised. On this basis, we recommend that you take the recommended steps set out in our previous communications and published on FIIG’s website to protect your personal information and reduce the risk of harm.”
